Liam Kedge answers some questions about his journey as an ACA/CTA Trainee
What made you start a career in accountancy?
Business studies and technology were always my interests in school, which laid the foundation for my career choices early on. With A-levels in maths, economics, and business, accountancy felt like the perfect fit. It allows me to help clients with multiple aspects of their businesses – working alongside like-minded people is also a bonus!
What’s something that you didn’t expect?
I was surprised to discover the numerous career paths available in accountancy. There are dozens of teams, each with their own specialisms, whether it’s Audit, Medical, Farming, Tax, Insolvency & Recovery and more. The best part is, if something doesn’t feel right for you, you can switch paths without leaving the profession!
What are your career goals?
My current goal is to complete my qualifications. After earning my Association of Accounting Technicians qualification in 2022, I’m focused on finishing my Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser studies – I’m looking forward to this achievement. Next, I aim to advance my career and continue helping clients with their accounting needs, tackling more complex matters whilst learning new things along the way!
