We are seeking an experienced and motivated Audit Senior to join our Corporate Audit and Advisory team. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, leading and delivering audit assignments for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring work is completed efficiently, accurately and in accordance with professional standards.
As an Audit Senior, you will supervise and support junior team members, build strong client relationships and contribute to the continued success and growth of the firm.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Audit Delivery
• Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Prepare and review audit documentation in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) and internal audit quality procedures.
• Identify audit risks and develop appropriate testing strategies.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and timescales.
• Report to managers and partners and liaise with the firm’s audit forum regarding technical matters and key audit findings.
• Prepare audit findings reports and communicate recommendations to clients.
Client Relationship Management
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients.
• Act as a key point of contact throughout audit engagements.
• Deliver a high standard of client service and respond promptly to client queries.
• Identify opportunities to provide additional support and services to clients where appropriate.
Team Leadership
• Supervise, coach and develop trainees and junior team members.
• Delegate work effectively and monitor progress throughout assignments.
• Provide constructive feedback and contribute to performance development discussions.
Compliance and Quality
• Ensure compliance with ethical, regulatory and professional standards.
• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of accounting and auditing developments, in line with the requirements of the ICAEW.
• Contribute to internal quality control procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the firm's commitment to risk management and regulatory compliance.
Person Specification:
Essential Skills and Experience
• ACA or ACCA qualified or equivalent (or finalist with significant audit experience).
• Strong practical experience within an audit and assurance environment with a track record of delivering excellent client service.
• Sound knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102 and International Standards on Auditing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a desire to collaborate with others and develop relationships (both external and internal).
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to operate at a high level of confidentiality.
• Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and audit software packages.
• Willingness to travel to other offices in East Anglia, as required.
Desirable Skills and Experience
• Experience auditing owner-managed businesses, charities, academies or other specialist sectors.
• Knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
• Experience of assisting in the preparation of financial statements and tax computations.
