We are seeking a motivated Audit Assistant with strong analytical skills to join our Corporate Audit and Advisory team. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop a career in accountancy and audit within a supportive and forward-thinking firm.
The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of high-quality audit services to a varied portfolio of clients, working closely with Audit Seniors, Managers and Partners. The role offers exposure to a broad range of industries and opportunities for professional development.
Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities:
• Assist in the planning and completion of statutory audits.
• Perform audit testing and substantive procedures in accordance with firm methodologies and profession standards.
• Prepare clear and accurate audit working papers and supporting documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports (primarily under UK GAAP).
• Assist and report to the Auditor in Charge (AIC) on client engagements.
• Support the development of less experienced members of the team, including through providing timely feedback.
• Analyse accounting records and identify any discrepancies or areas requiring further investigation.
• Communicate professionally with clients to obtain information and explanations.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and audit regulatory requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct.
• Adhere to the firm’s risk management policies and procedures.
• Undertake other duties to meet the demands of the business, as required.
• Participate in training and professional development activities.
Person Specification:
Essential Skills and Experience
• Previous experience in an audit environment with a track record of delivering excellent client service.
• A-Level qualifications (or equivalent) with strong academic achievement.
• AAT Level 4 qualified (if applicable).
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Highly effective organisational and time-management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Professional, positive and client-focused attitude.
• Willingness to travel to other offices in East Anglia, as required.
Desirable Skills and Experience
• Studying towards, or interested in pursuing, a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Experience of assisting in the preparation of financial statements and tax computations.
